s-bahn-extends-its-services-during-uefa-euro-2024

During the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024, Berlin’s S-Bahn is gearing up to provide enhanced services to accommodate the influx of football fans from across Europe. S-Bahn CEO Peter Buchner has announced that there will be more staff at stations and additional trains on the rails to ensure smooth transportation for all guests.

To meet the increased demand during the European Championships, the S-Bahn will be running six trains every 20 minutes between the city centre and the Olympic Stadium, as mandated by the authorities of Berlin and Brandenburg. This is a significant increase from the usual two trains per 20 minutes, allowing fans to travel to the stadium and the fan festival at the Brandenburg Gate conveniently.

In addition to more frequent services, longer trains will also be deployed on the S1 route between Gesundbrunnen and Schöneberg, as well as on the S5 route between Westkreuz and Mahlsdorf to cater to late-night arrivals and departures. Furthermore, throughout the tournament, trains in the city centre will operate with extended carriages in the evenings and on weekends to accommodate the increased passenger traffic.

To enhance customer service, the railway company is planning to boost staffing levels at stations, with a particular focus on Berlin Central Station. Approximately 50 additional employees will be available to assist fans and visitors with navigating the station and accessing the required information.

Berlin is set to host six matches during the European Championships, including the highly anticipated tournament final. A fan mile has been established on Straße des 17. Juni, where fans can gather to watch the matches, especially those featuring the German national team.

With these preparations in place, Berlin’s S-Bahn is ready to provide efficient and reliable transportation services during UEFA Euro 2024, ensuring a seamless experience for football enthusiasts traveling to the matches and festivities in the city. Fans can rest assured that they will be well taken care of as they navigate the bustling city during the exciting football tournament.
