The grand opening of the brand-new Sir Bob Charles Golf Centre at Clearwater Golf Club in Christchurch, New Zealand was a huge success, drawing in hundreds of golf enthusiasts over the weekend.

The center, designed by architects, boasts a 340m dual-ended driving range with 32 bays, each equipped with TrackMan range technology to provide detailed information on every shot. Out of the 32 bays, 18 are covered, and 14 are on grass, catering to all preferences. Additionally, there is a sprawling 3500sq m putting green, one of the largest in the southern hemisphere, for visitors to practice their putting skills. To complete the experience, a short game and chipping area with bunkers has been included as well.

The driving range is open to everyone, whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just looking for a fun outing. Guests can enjoy the putting green for a small fee, making it accessible to all. For those looking for more regular access, annual memberships are available for $950, providing year-round access to all the facilities.

The visionary behind this state-of-the-art golf center is Todd Heller, a prominent New Zealand businessman from Heller Golf. With valuable input from Geoff and David Saunders, the concept of the center was transformed into a world-class facility. It’s no wonder that the center was named after Sir Bob Charles, New Zealand’s most celebrated golfer, who was present at the opening ceremony.

Expressing his delight, Sir Bob Charles shared, “What a wonderful facility and so proud to have my name on it. So nice to see so many out enjoying themselves.” The center has also appointed top coach Marcus Wheelhouse from Auckland as the director of instruction, ensuring that visitors receive expert guidance and coaching during their visits.

The Sir Bob Charles Golf Centre is set to become a premier golfing destination in the South Island, offering top-notch facilities and a welcoming environment for golfers of all skill levels. Whether you’re looking to improve your swing, practice your putting, or simply enjoy a day out on the green, this new center promises to provide a memorable experience for all who visit.
