Last weekend’s Supercars action in Darwin marked the beginning of a hectic three-week racing schedule for Kiwi driver Jaxon Evans. The 27-year-old is set to compete in Mt Fuji in Japan, followed by the 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium, and then back to Townsville for the next round of Supercars on July 6-7. Evans expressed his excitement for the upcoming races, especially the 24 Hours of Spa, which holds special significance as it marks the 100th running of the race.

Evans had a strong showing in Darwin, finishing 11th in the second race, marking his second-best result of the season. His success at the Hidden Valley track in the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia series in previous years has set the stage for continued improvement in the Supercars qualifying rounds. Following the Perth round last month, Evans and his team identified qualifying performance as key area for enhancement and dedicated time at Queensland Raceway to work on it.

Improving qualifying performance is crucial for Evans and his team, as securing a good starting position often translates to a better race outcome. Evans emphasized the importance of synchronizing driver and car performance to secure a spot at the front of the grid. By fine-tuning their qualifying strategy and optimizing the car setup, Evans aims to break into the top 10 consistently and compete at a higher level.

In the overall standings, Broc Feeney’s back-to-back wins in Darwin helped him solidify his second place position with 1245 points, narrowing the gap to leader Will Brown to 108 points. Chaz Mostert currently holds the third spot with 1074 points. However, the Kiwi drivers faced setbacks in Darwin, with Matthew Payne dropping from fifth to ninth place overall, and Richie Stanaway, Andre Heimgartner, Ryan Wood, and Jaxon Evans all slipping one position in the standings.

As Evans gears up for a challenging month of racing across different continents, including the prestigious 24 Hours of Spa, his focus remains on improving qualifying performance to secure better race results. With determination and a strategic approach, Evans aims to climb up the standings and make his mark in the competitive world of motorsport.
