Wellington Phoenix Players Kate Taylor and Kelli Brown to Depart the Club

Football Ferns midfielder Kate Taylor has announced that she will not be returning to Wellington Phoenix for the upcoming women’s A-League season. Along with Taylor, forward Kelli Brown will also be leaving the club as they are both out of contract.

The club has expressed their support for Taylor’s decision to pursue her football career overseas and is confident in her future success. Taylor has been a key player for the team since they joined the Liberty A-League in 2021, with 42 appearances under her belt.

On the other hand, Brown had a limited role in her second stint with the club last season, with only one start and eight appearances. In addition to Taylor and Brown, three other players have confirmed their departures from the Phoenix, including Grace Wisnewski and two American imports.

While some players are leaving, the Phoenix has already secured contracts with six players for the upcoming season, with discussions ongoing with other off-contract players. The club is preparing for the 2024-25 A-League season with a mix of returning and new faces.

Overall, the Wellington Phoenix are going through a transitional period with changes in the roster, but are focused on building a competitive team for the future. Stay tuned for more updates on the team’s progress.
