Unemployment in Russia in April accelerated to 5.8% — the highest level since April of 2016, follows from the data of Rosstat. The number of unemployed in Russia rose by 800 thousand people.

“In April 2020, according to the assessment using the preliminary results of the selective labour force survey, 4.3 million people aged 15 years and over, or 5.8% of the labor force were classified as unemployed (according to methodology of the International Labour Organization), — reported in the report of Rosstat. – At the same time registered as unemployed at the employment service of the population, according to the current 1.3 million people, including 1.1 million people were receiving unemployment benefits”.

the Ministry of economic development (MED) has lowered its forecast for unemployment in Russia in 2020 the unemployment rate is 5.7% (previous forecast of 4.5%) in 2021 and 5.4% (4,5%) in 2022 to 4.9% (4,5%), 2023- 4,7% (4,4%).

the MAYOR expects a significant convergence of rates of unemployment and registered unemployment, which is calculated according to the methodology of the International labour organization (ILO). This happens due to the fact that the government increased the size of unemployment benefits and the citizens began to register with the employment services.
