Lieutenant-General Alexander Matovnikov graduated from the Higher border school of the KGB, after which he served in the legendary unit “Alfa” and participated in the Afghan war.
In 2013 Matovnikov took the post of Deputy commander special operations Forces, and two years later was headed by the CCO.
In 2017, Alexander Matovnikov was awarded the title “Hero of Russia”. In 2018 he was appointed presidential Plenipotentiary envoy to the North Caucasus Federal district.
