After the poisoning of the inhabitants of Kizlyar, Russia’s Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under part 1 article 239 of the Criminal code of Russian Federation (“Rendering services not meeting requirements of safety of life or health of consumers”).
According to preliminary data, the water pollution was the fault of local residents. They had a sewer, connecting it to the drainage system. But it was damaged water pipes that ran deeper.
