Russia’s attempt at a breakthrough in Ukraine has been halted. The situation in several sectors is changing “rapidly,” according to reports.

Ukraine’s defenses are holding up to Russia’s advance despite continued attacks in multiple sectors, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported May 12. Syrskyj said the situation was difficult. The defense units stopped the Russian occupiers’ attempts to break through the defenses.

According to him, the situation in the Kupyansk, Siversk, Lyman and Pokrovsk regions is changing “rapidly” due to the ongoing fighting. According to Syrsky, Russian troops have had partial success in some areas, while the Ukrainian Defense Forces are pushing back the enemy in other areas and improving their tactical position, according to information from the Kyiv Independent. Russia claims to have captured five settlements in Kharkiv Oblast: Pletenivka, Ohirtseve, Borysivka, Pylne and Strilecha.
