Espanyol starts off on the wrong foot in the hours leading up to the Playoff match against Real Sporting de Gijón. The Catalan club waited until this Sunday to travel to Asturias and has had problems boarding the plane due to the bad weather affecting their airport.
The players’ plane could not take off initially, nor could the press and fans’ plane due to the Sunday storm causing chaos.
However, past one o’clock in the afternoon, the Espanyol charter was able to take off, and around 2:30 they arrived in Asturias for lunch.
Manolo González did not announce his squad for the first leg of the semifinals until this morning, with José Gragera among the new additions.
On the other hand, the Sporting team gathered from 1:30 p.m., departing at that time from El Molinón to the ARTIEM Hotel, as is customary.
Finally, online ticket sales on the official website will be available until 3:00 p.m. this Sunday. More than 23,000 Sporting fans are expected in the stands.
