Exciting Open de La Línea de la Concepción Event Takes Place in Plaza de la Constitución
The city of La Línea de la Concepción will host the first stop of the prestigious national 3×3 basketball event, the Armas Trasmediterránea 3×3 Series, on May 31st and June 1st. This year marks the debut of La Línea de la Concepción as a host city for the event, as well as the naming of the circuit after Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea. The event will kick off a tour that will visit several cities across Spain during the summer, including Marbella, Zaragoza, and Tenerife, where the Grand Final will take place.
The presentation of the La Línea de la Concepción Open was held in Plaza de la Constitución, the chosen location for the tournament. The event was attended by Juan Franco, the mayor of La Línea de la Concepción; Sebastián Hidalgo, the vice president of the Diputación de Cádiz; Daniel Sainz, the coordinator of the sports area of the Spanish Basketball Federation; Manuel Pérez, project manager at Madison; and the women’s team of Agua y Jardín 3×3, the current champions of the circuit.
Both Juan Franco and Sebastián Hidalgo emphasized the honor of hosting such events in a city that strongly supports basketball. Daniel Sainz and Manuel Pérez, representatives of the event’s promoters, expressed their satisfaction with debuting the circuit in a new venue and thanked the institutions and sponsors for their support, especially Armas Trasmediterránea. Finally, the players of Agua y Jardín 3×3 expressed their excitement to debut in the 2024 circuit and in La Línea de la Concepción as the first stop of this edition.
The La Línea de la Concepción Open will take place over two days, Friday and Saturday, filled with exciting matches. The group stage will begin on Friday afternoon, with the final details being determined on Saturday morning, which will also include the quarterfinals in both the women’s and men’s categories. The Saturday evening session will kick off with Marquie Smith’s dunk exhibition and the Gana Energía three-point contest, leading up to the semifinals starting at 7 pm and the grand finals, scheduled for 8:20 pm.
The lineup of athletes in the Andalusian city is impressive, including top players like Jordi Juanola, the reigning circuit champion, and Paula Estebas, who also won the 2023 edition with Agua y Jardín 3×3.
