Barcelona’s 2024-25 Shirt Sale Could Be Delayed Until Early July

The much-anticipated 125th-anniversary shirt of FC Barcelona will take a few more weeks to hit the market. Although the foundation for a new technical sponsorship contract with Nike beyond 2028 is in place after many months of tension and even contemplating a breakup with the US multinational, the final agreement delay has a cascading effect on the release date of the 2024-25 season kit, which could be postponed until early July. According to MD, this is the current working plan at the Catalan club as part of a conservative strategy that could only be expedited in the event of a breakthrough in the final agreement with Nike.

A year ago, the current blaugrana shirt went on sale on June 15th. Now, with the new jerseys for the 2024-25 season yet to arrive at the club’s official stores, the release is expected to be slightly later. The traditional photoshoot with Barça players wearing the new kit was also not possible due to the delay.

Three days before the last league match in Seville, some Barça players participated in the monthly ‘shooting’ session at the Ciutat Esportiva to fulfill the club’s marketing commitments, but they were not wearing the 2024-25 gear. While last season featured stars like Lewandowski, Gavi, Aitana, Alexia, Pedri, and Rolfö posing together at the Spotify Camp Nou for promotional photos, this time, the images will have to be digitally altered. The players have not seen the new shirts physically yet.

There is no doubt that the design, inspired by the club’s first-ever shirt, will be a bestseller. Similar precedents include the Centenari (1998-99 and 1999-00) and the first treble-winning season (2008-09). The new Spotify Camp Nou and Barcelona’s 125th anniversary are eagerly awaited by fans and players alike.
