the Head of Sberbank German Gref commented on the idea of change of the main shareholder of the Bank. In an interview with TV channel “Russia 24”, he said that rather positive than negative attitude towards this initiative.
“a Lot of questions we have on this subject, from investors, investors are worried. Of course, this changes for the company. But we are now in the process of understanding and talks,” said Gref.
According to him, Sberbank as a major technology company can “bring huge benefits to the country”.
“the Alternatives are not many in Russia, and we can be a very powerful platform for development and digital transformation,” said the head of Sberbank.
the Russian authorities are considering the transfer of a controlling stake in Sberbank to the state. At the moment this package is owned by the Central Bank, which in relation to the Bank acts as a shareholder and as a regulator.
the Central Bank owns 52.3% of ordinary shares of Sberbank. The share of the Central Bank in the authorized capital of the largest Bank in the country is 50 percent plus one share.
