The 2024 Finn World Masters at PuntAla Camp & Resort in Italy has reached its halfway stage, with World No. 1 Laurent Hay and Martijn van Muyden tied for the lead after two races on Day 2. Nanno Schuttrups is trailing in third place.

Despite a brief delay on the beach due to waiting for the wind, the fleet enjoyed ideal racing conditions with a building breeze and sunny weather. The Red and Green groups had the best conditions and the shortest day, with Filipe Silva leading his group to victory in one race and placing third in another. Hay also claimed a race win, while van Muyden took the top spot in the second race of the day.

The North course area presented challenges with unstable winds and multiple delays, but Roberto Benamati and the Dutch sailors Thierry van Vierssen and Bas de Waal emerged victorious in their respective groups.

Silva expressed satisfaction with his performance, bouncing back from a tough first day. Valtonen, currently in 49th place, noted the increased competitiveness of the fleet compared to previous years.

With just one race scheduled for Wednesday, the sailors are gearing up for the Annual Masters Meeting and the Masters dinner. The championship will conclude on Friday after four more races.
