In angry protests in Israel, demonstrators have again called for an end to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government and the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip.
The newspaper “Haaretz” spoke of tens of thousands of participants in the protest demonstrations on Saturday evening. There were clashes with the police in the coastal city of Tel Aviv. According to the Times of Israel, there were several arrests. “As long as Netanyahu is in power, the hostages will not return (…) Netanyahu is leading Israel to complete destruction,” Israeli media quoted a statement from relatives of the hostages as saying. Ministers in Netanyahu’s government have been asked to stop cooperating with him. “Netanyahu is sacrificing the country and sending our families to their deaths for political reasons,” was another accusation.
