A Cannes Festival like any other. From May 14 to 25, 2024, the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival takes place. An event during which numerous films will be screened in competition with the arrival of celebrities from the four corners of the world.

But for several days now, it’s been a rumor making the rounds on the web that’s stealing the spotlight from this event long awaited by moviegoers. On the social network A list that was bound to cause a stir a few hours before the launch of the ceremony in Cannes. However, as our colleagues from Médiapart have stated, this list of sexual attackers does not exist.

“For several days, certain media, including serious ones, have been talking about the existence of a supposed “list” of alleged perpetrators of sexual violence, which Mediapart is preparing to publish. This is obviously false,” wrote the journalist Fabien Escalona on his account, thus putting an end to these rumors.

As the Cannes Film Festival prepares to welcome actors, actresses and directors on its red carpet, ELLE magazine has unveiled its investigation into Alain Sarde, producer of auteur cinema. Our colleagues reveal the testimony of nine women accusing him of rape, sexual assault and harassment.

Facts which allegedly took place when these nine women were minors or young actresses. One of them, an actress from a “TV series from the 1990s-2000s” was allegedly raped at the age of 15, in 1985, during a professional meeting in her Parisian apartment. “False” accusations denied by his lawyer in ELLE: “(Alain Sarde) refutes them with the greatest firmness and affirms that he has never used the slightest violence or coercion in his relationships with women whose consent has always been essential for him”. In 1997, Alain Sarde was indicted for “rape” in a pimping case involving political and artistic figures before benefiting from a dismissal of the charges.
