Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel hold talks in Moscow. The two leaders plan to discuss the situation in the middle East, the aggravation of the Iranian-American crisis, the situation in Syria, Libya and Ukraine, and bilateral issues.
Merkel arrived in Moscow on Saturday, 11 January, on a working visit. It is accompanied by the foreign Minister of Germany Heiko Maas.
At the beginning of negotiations in narrow format Putin noted that the sides are in constant contact, discusses how domestic issues and international issues. “There are the most pressing, which, I understand, we’ll concentrate”, — quotes words of the President of the Russian Federation “Interfax”.
Merkel, for his part, said in the beginning of the meeting that looks forward to future negotiations. “I believe that it is better to talk to each other than about each other”, she said.

the Talks with Putin will be the only item on the agenda of Merkel’s visit to Russia. At 17 hours Moscow time scheduled joint press conference between the two leaders, after which the German Chancellor will depart for Berlin, RIA Novosti reported.
Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said earlier that the visit of the German Chancellor to Moscow is not connected with the murder of the head of Iranian special forces of Qasem Soleimani.
