the Institute of national remembrance of Ukraine has demanded from the authorities of the city of Kakhovka in the Kherson region to carry the famous “Legendary Tachanka” and “Girl in uniform”.
About this community on his page in Facebook informed the mayor Andrey Dyachenko.
He wrote that the ultimatum from Kiev calls “the Cart” as the main symbol of the Communist totalitarian regime and requires dismantling of the sculpture.
the Mayor stressed that in this regard, on 16 January, the city Council of Kakhovka will convene for an extraordinary meeting to decide the fate of the local attractions, which according to Dyachenko is a symbol of the city.
the Mayor is confident that most citizens would be against the dismantling of the monument, like himself.
Dyachenko noted that preparing an appeal to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, and to the Governor of the region.
Bronze 60-ton monument “Legendary Tachanka” was opened on 27 Oct 1967 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the October revolution of 1917 and dedicated to fighting on the Kakhovka bridgehead during the civil war. 7-meter “Girl in uniform” established on 4 November 1983 and represents the image of a girl in an overcoat and budyenny helmets with a rifle slung over his shoulder.
