Russia highly appreciates the position of Germany in support of the project “Northern stream-2”, said President of Russia Vladimir Putin after talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
the Chancellor, in turn, noted that the construction of the pipeline should be completed. She pointed out that the project through the new European legislation legitimized, so Germany rejects the extraterritorial sanctions of the USA against the “Nord stream-2”.
At a press conference after talks with Angela Merkel, Putin said that the two leaders touched upon the issues related to the continued transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine. The Russian President said “mutual and balanced” agreements between Gazprom and Kiev to continue the transit of gas through Ukraine. In accordance with the agreements reached on 31 December between Gazprom and Ukrainian partners, transit shipments will be carried out over the next five years.
Meeting with Merkel, Putin said “useful and meaningful”. Addressed key issues of bilateral relations in politics, economy and cultural-humanitarian sphere.
