Every 1st of the month, like millions of retirees in France, you see the amount of your supplementary retirement pension from Agirc-Arrco appear. However, and you have to be prepared to avoid disappointments, some months have a few surprises in store, such as the absence of payment into your account on the expected date…

The reason is simple: some 1sts of the month fall during a weekend or public holiday. The banks are then closed and do not carry out transactions. The latter may, moreover, take a few days before carrying out the operation. “The effective date of transfer to your account depends on your bank,” explains Agirc-Arrco on its site, reports the Merci pour l’Info site.

Another point to check and which may notably explain this delay, is the type of payment chosen. Apart from the monthly payment of the supplementary pension, Agirc-Arrco also offers payments per quarter or per year. Policyholders with a foreign account in a non-European country, or not covered by the monthly payment, benefit from a payment per quarter. As for annual payments, these are allocated to retirees whose pension is too low to be paid monthly. They therefore receive their pension for the coming year at the beginning of January, explains the supplementary website.

Since the start of the year, the payment of the Agirc-Arrco pension has already been delayed several times. In January and April, this could only be paid on the 2nd of the month, the 1st being a Sunday then a public holiday.

For the rest of the year, this situation should recur on 5 other dates. Here, below in our slideshow, is the 2024 calendar where the payment dates will be postponed again:
