The ranking of the fifty best vineyards on the planet was unveiled on July 12, 2023 by the World’s Best Vineyards organization. It is an annual ranking that lists the most exceptional vineyards in the world based on their quality, customer experience and reputation. France is not in the top three, but remains the country with the highest number of wineries in the ranking.

This prestigious ranking was established by a panel of 500 wine experts, sommeliers and travel specialists, who took into account the wine tourism experience. The Catena Zapata winery in Argentina took first place, also distinguishing itself as the best winery in South America. Just behind, Bodegas de los Herederos del Marqués de Riscal, located in the Spanish region of Rioja, rose to second place, thus obtaining the title of best winery in Europe.

Despite its absence on the podium, France remains a major player in the ranking of the best vineyards in the world. Indeed, it has the largest number of wine estates in this prestigious list. The diversity and richness of its terroirs, combined with the centuries-old know-how of its winegrowers, help to keep France at the top of the world wine scene.

From Burgundy to Bordeaux, via the Rhône Valley and Alsace, each region offers unique and emblematic wines that appeal to palates around the world. Even if it did not take first place this year, France continues to establish itself as an undisputed reference in the world of wine.
