The Pittsburgh Penguins forward Rickard Rakell is gonna be out for like six to eight weeks after getting surgery on his broken left hand. The team announced this on Sunday. So, like, Rakell won’t be able to play in the NHL Global Series against the Nashville Predators in Sweden on Nov. 14 and 16, which totally sucks for him. He got hurt in the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.
Pittsburgh has been doing pretty well with a 6-2-1 start, their best since 2019-20. Rakell has been a big part of that with three goals and five assists. To fill in for him, the Penguins brought up Ville Koivunen from their AHL team Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The team’s next game is against the St. Louis Blues at home on Monday night, so let’s see how they do without Rakell on the ice.
So, like, Rakell’s gonna be out for a while, and that’s gonna be a tough blow for the Penguins. Not really sure why this matters, but it’s always a bummer when a key player gets injured. Hopefully, Koivunen can step up and help fill the void while Rakell is recovering. The team has been on a roll lately, so it’ll be interesting to see how they handle this setback. Let’s wish Rakell a speedy recovery and hope the Penguins can keep up their winning streak without him in the lineup.
