Five days ago, a young fan named Grayson became an internet sensation for dressing up as Auston Matthews’ trading card for Halloween. Today, Matthews had the chance to meet the fan who pretty much looked like a mini version of himself.
The Toronto Maple Leafs’ star center had a memorable encounter with Grayson before the team’s practice session. Grayson pointed out the obvious, saying, “You look like me.” Matthews chuckled and agreed, adding, “Your mustache is better though.”
During their brief meeting, Matthews gifted Grayson with a jersey, making the young fan’s day even more special. To top it off, the Maple Leafs extended an invitation to Grayson to watch their practice session before their upcoming game against the Seattle Kraken on Thursday night.
Grayson’s enthusiasm didn’t stop there. He playfully challenged Toronto winger Ryan Reaves to a fight, jokingly saying, “Let’s drop the gloves.” In response, Reaves teased Grayson to take a nap before the game, hinting that they might need him on the ice.
As Reaves bid farewell to Grayson, he humorously said, “See you later, Auston,” adding a touch of fun to the heartwarming interaction between Grayson and Matthews. It was a delightful moment that showcased the bond between a young fan and his hockey idol, making Halloween even more special for Grayson.
