Today, Russia celebrates the Day of lifting the siege of Leningrad. This is already the 76th anniversary of the liberation of the city from the Nazi siege. Now the Kolyma lives 160 participants of the great Patriotic war, among which the inhabitants of besieged Leningrad. Ludmila Smirnova, a resident of the besieged Leningrad, recalls how she found out about the Victory. In the meantime, she has taken on the “Road of life” in an orphanage near Yaroslavl. Says that in the besieged city she was alone, parents died in the first months of the war. Her 4-year-old, saved from the bombing and fed by strangers.

Says that when it was difficult – ate paper and matches. From the besieged city together with other children, left without parents, was taken at the first opportunity. Says, afraid to go on the train, and when it arrived in a safe place, got scared, tried to escape. Helped soldiers. Now Ludmila is an excellent cook, loves to walk and photograph. Has two children, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, never complains about his health.
Only in the Magadan region is home to 12 residents of besieged Leningrad. 7 of them are in the regional center. On the Kolyma is now live 160 heroes of the great Patriotic war.
