Indian Athletes Gear Up for Paris Olympics with 45 Days to Go

India’s Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy are set to be formidable contenders in the men’s doubles badminton event at the upcoming Paris Olympics. With just 45 days remaining until the much-anticipated event, Indian athletes are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations to surpass their performance from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and aim for a double-digit medal tally this time around.

At the Tokyo Olympics, India fielded its largest-ever contingent of 124 athletes, marking a historic moment for the country. As the countdown to the Paris 2024 Olympics continues, here is a list of Indian athletes who have already secured their spots at the prestigious event across various disciplines.

In archery, Dhiraj Bommadevara has qualified in the Recurve Men category. The athletics squad includes standout performers like Murali Sreeshankar in Long Jump, Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Jena in Javelin Throw, Akshdeep Singh, Vikas Singh, Paramjeet Bisht, and Ram Baboo in the 20km racewalk, and Avinash Sable in the 3000m steeplechase.

Among the women athletes, Priyanka Goswami will be competing in the 20km racewalk, while Parul Chaudhary will take on the 3000m steeplechase. In mixed events, Priyanka Goswami and Akshdeep Singh will team up for the Marathon race walk mixed relay, while the relay events will feature prominent names like Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal, Arokia Rajiv, and Amoj Jacob in the Men’s 4x400m, and Rupal, Jyothika Sri Dandi, MR Poovamma, and Subha Venkatesan in the Women’s 4x400m.

The badminton contingent boasts talents like Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy in Men’s Singles, PV Sindhu in Women’s Singles, and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy with Chirag Shetty in Men’s Doubles. The boxing squad includes Amit Panghal, Nishant Dev, Nikhat Zareen, Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria, and Lovlina Borgohain.

Other disciplines such as Equestrian, Hockey, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Table Tennis, and Wrestling will also see Indian athletes competing for glory at the Paris Olympics.
